Getting Started with a Walk-in Closet Design can Sometimes be the hardest part of a project that involves a Closet Makeover. Seeing the potential for a new closet organzier can be diffucult when your clothing and shevlves are full. It is best to begin with the simple things.
It is common to move into a home and see simple wire shelving, while that may be practical it is more often then not as functional as a closet can be.
The Good news is you can get a fresh new start with a well planned closet organizer.
Here are a few tips that can make this a more rewarding experience.
- Start with a simple inventory of your wardrobe, Correct placement of your clothing will make your closet more funtional.
- Know your routine. The closet needs to be designed with function in mind. The clothing and accessories you were everyday should be placed towards the front were they can be easily found when you start your day.
- A typical double hang system should start at about 76". That will leave room for a shelf above it to store boxes.
- Make Sure you plan your custom closet design according to your needs. Most Closet Organization companies will listen to what you need and design a system that works well for your everyday life.
- Keep in mind that even though most shelving systems will typically be 12" or 14 " deep and that clothing will extend 17" to 20" from the wall.
- Keep in mind also that you can use what you can't see so it is best to keep your most often used items in a place that can be found with out trying to rememeber where you put it.
- If you plan to put drawers or pull-out hampers into your design make sure that they have the clearence needed to completly open them.
Planing and installing a custom closet organizer can be a lot of work but when your project is completed you can add strong value to your home as well as make your daily life a little less stressful.
